A lot of people don't think it is a plicata. Anthocyanin in center of petal, absent from rim. For them it needs to be proven.

Also it is definitely related to lines and speckles pattern which a number of people adamantly insist is not plicata.

'Ring Around Rosie' is from 'Wild Jasmine' (plicata) X 'Edna's Wish'
which has 'Halloween Party' (plicata) in it's back ground. Why would
you not expect that 'Ring Around Rosie' might be plicata based on that
information alone?

If there is pigment in centre of falls (and standards if pigment is
on standards) then it is an inclusion plicata. Inclusion may also be
synonymous with Ae. that is if Ae is present anthocyanin will be in
center.

Ring Round Rosie is an inclusion center with pigment absent from rim,
but that is an exptra feature. Provide d by proabaly two dosages of "I"

Understudy is a luminata with out "I" being involved. So it has an odd
mix of pigments. When crossed to Ring Around Rosie, all seedlings
(there were a lot ) all showed plicata patterns. The "I" dosage factor
was put out of play in this cross, as only one dosage at most in any
seedling, and it wasn't able to repress Ae , which was proably in two
dosages in most of the seedlings. Other crosses wasn't able to give
me this nice combination, so got an mix of patterns that wasn't able to
"Prove" RaR was plicata. I knew it was, but to prove it was another
question.

Thanks Chuck. That helps me visualize what you said in the earlier
post. & also helps me look around to see if anything with the right
make up is alive here.

Where does UNDERSTUDY fit into this story? Is it an inclusion plicata?
It looks like it has Ae, plus has a lot of streaking in the center.
Or did you mean it also has to have the anthocyanin missing from the
rim?

ART DECO X UNDERSTUDY gave a lot of very dark, "regular" plics.

For a plicata you would want an inclusion plicata. One with pattern in
center. Such as a luminata or a plicata-luminata. They already seem to
have Ae. Then the other one would be one from plicata breeding with
anthocyanin absent from edges. Such as Whispering Spirit, or ring
Around
Rosie. Could use Dazzling Gold or one like that.
