I have Windows 2007 Professional.  If you have a toolbar strip, try right clicking on the "search" button, click on "search options" and unchecking "save search history on my computer" .  If you don't have the toolbar strip visible you can enable it by right clicking on one of the bars at the top and checking the option for it.  Uncheck again after you are done if you want it to go away after you are done.
