Yes, it is a challenge. I doomed my first two Siberians with too much shade.
I used to garden in southern New Mexico, where shade, rain, and cold
are alien concepts--so I wasn't in the habit of questioning the amount
of light in each spot of the garden. The plants are still healthy,
but bloom is not to be seen.
Last year's Siberians got planted in a much better spot. But
I wouldn't be surprised if we end up moving before they get
established. :(
By all accounts, Virginia is a fine place for Siberians. They may pull
out of it eventually.
Siberians ought to feel right at home this winter!

Thanks, Jim. I had some wonderful help from a few generous
