Will definitely check out these sources--

This is a very wet site--I doubt that soil moisture could be a factor--I 
live in a swamp, actually!  These were potted plants so I kept them at 
about the same level they were in the pots....

Hmmm...I suppose this could be the problem!!

Hopefully this spring I will see these take off and I can report no 
problem!! (Typical winter optimism!)
