favorite self-colored irises

Hello again. I thought I'd kick of some discussion on favorite
varieties of tall bearded irises. When I returned to iris
growing three years ago, I wanted to start my collection with
some good, current examples of the different color classes.
I looked through the AIS Bulletins for some ideas, but I
thought it would be fun to ask for input here too. I don't
get to shows or other gardens too much, so some of you who
have large collections will have seen more than I have.
Just to make it manageable, let's start with self-colored
tall beardeds. (For those new to iris lingo, a self is a flower
that is entirely a single color.) What are your two or three
favorite varieties in each of these color ranges?
WHITE
BLUE
VIOLET
BLACK
BROWN
RED
ORANGE or PEACH
PINK
YELLOW or CREAM
(We've already talked a bit about the oranges.)
