Re: Tale of an iris newbie

Mike:   Your story about the iris newbie is funny - and disturbing!  We're
all new sometime.... and those of us who developed a deep love for the flower
AND for the Society...did so because of the kindness of the people!  If that
had been me, I would have been so humiliated to be told off like that, that I
probably would have slunk away never to return.  Instead, I had (have) a
wonderful mentor who has continued to make everything about irises and the
Iris Society magical!  I hope that I've learned at his knee and I take
special pains with the new people to help them to get up to speed.  Our local
club holds a New Member Orientation each year where we hand out free plants,
talk about iris basics and socialize.  Also, every meeting we have is
preceeded by a "Beginner's Corner".  I'm doing the one on Sunday and the
subject will be "How to Read and Iris Catalog"..... and I'm going to cover
just some of those things that Jan is confused about.

Those two old bags ought to get whapped upside the haid.

And that is my considered opinon on THAT
