hybridizing

Clarence tells me that hybridizing tb's is a piece of cake.  anybody out
there want to walk me through the process?  i have not had much success - is
the weather important? time of day? does it have to be done within seconds
after the flower opens - pollen, styles?  are there maternal traits vs
paternal?  is it different in the rot zone than in more mediterranean
climates?  colder versus warmer?
