Actually I have very heavy clay--and usually plenty of moisture from
rain, too. I actually did put some horse manure around this area as it
was unimproved fill when I put in my first plantings two years ago. I
never fertilized my iris at my other house and had a lot of bloom, but
never had Kentucky Derby planted there. Thanks for all your input!
