Well, they are wonderful toys for children, and I couldn't kill one
intentionally if I tried. We called them pillbugs, roly-polies,
and doodlebugs; they are actually related more to crustaceans
like shrimp. (They are grey; sow bugs are pale.) They've done
tons of damage in our garden this winter.
BUT, with no mulch at all, the weeds will make the area unsightly!!!
I could put down the weed - blocker fabric, but would still want
a cosmetic fix for the weed blocker tops; or, a ground cover that
would choke out the weeds without hurting the TBIs.
