Re: hello netherlands

Herman - hello. maybe you can help us answer a question about iris bulbs.
on this list server, some of us were writing about the early blooming little
iris - i. danfordiae and i. reticulata. reticulata grows reasonably well for
some of us, but danfordiae does not grow as well except for the first year or
two. we wondered what the soil, climate (rain and temperatures), and culture
is in the netherlands to make it possible to grow both of these iris
commercially? my soil is very black with organic matter and very full of
gravel. bulbs do much better for me than for my neighbors with clay soil.

will alpine plants grow well where summers are hot and humid?

i am not sure i understand this - does it mean that iris will grow only in
rock gardens in the netherlands?
