Yess!!... even floppy disks with the data would be very welcome. This is
an idea that should be followed up. The lists could be OCRed although
they would have to be proofed. It's likey the AIS would have to give
copyright approval if any distribution took place.
OCR is "optical character recognition" in which the existing printed pages
of the checklist(s) could be scanned into a digital, editable format.
Scanning errors do occur and they have to be corrected more or
less manually, in this case by someone with iris jargon knowledge would be
preferable as they would be more able to spot and correct errors not
checkable in a spellcheck program.
This could be a rather formidable task do all the checklists but
perhaps it could be started with the 1980-89 book and the 1990-96
listings. The others could follow.
PS I'm finished my tirade about the AIS membership fee increase. ;>
