AW: little spring iris

Hi there to Gunnar and all the others,
Growing bulbs is not only a job it is a science too. It is a science =
there where laboratoria are coming into the picture.
Basicly it is as follows for spring flowering bulbs: buy them early =
(=3Dseptember) and store them when necessary in a coll spot. Plant them =
at the approp. depth in a soil which is preferably
sandy or peaty but soft and water retentative. Water them when =
necessary. Go inside and enjoy the winter.
In spring when the flowers are unfolding you have to give the normal =
quantity of fertilizer.=20
Less nitrogen but lots of phostrogen and potash. After flowering you cut =
away the flowers and ovary (=3D to avoid getting seed). If necessary =
give another supply of fertilizer (depending what you have used). =
Depending on what soil you garden you either leave the bulbs in the soil =
to over-summer or you dig them out when the leaves has died down (this =
is you own experience). This answer came from Holland. Zone 5 (as I have =
been told).
Herman

They just cut the flovers when they are about to bloom
to make the bulbs grow faster!!

Have you ever been to the Netherland flower festival
where they cover whole cities with cut flovers.?
