Just a few words to add to the deer advice--different species of deer
have different preferences/behaviors, etc. so take suggestions that come
from experience with white-tailed deer with a grain of salt--the only
information about roe deer in a large reference book I have on deer was
that they get their full set of adult teeth faster than any other
deer species--by the time they are 13 months old! I am sure this is NOT
good news!!
One suggestion that may be appropriate is to create a cage for your
plants using rigid fencing rather than using netting. I know this is
likely to be unattractive, but physical barriers are the only things that
will likely consistently work. There is research with white-tails that
shows human urine is NOT an effective repellant. The only substance not
mentioned that you might try is to spread a little dried blood (sold and
packaged here in the US as a fertilizer product) on the ground around
your plantings. This is a nitrogen fertilizer, so consider possible
effects on your plants!
