I use the commercial product called Deadline to control slugs. Since we grow
200 plus different types of hosta, they are the plant of choice for
slugs...but I have found Deadline quite effective if used according to
directions. And animals and birds are not attracted to it...our cat loves
the out-of-doors and I would not use it if animals were threatened byit.
