Since you asked...
One of the list policies states that postings should be signed with your
real name and email address, as a minimum. It's just plain rude to talk
without identifying yourself, and the email address is needed so that
people are able to respond to your postings off-list. (Many email readers
show the sender's address in the header, some do not.)
Providing your location is optional, but it is strongly recommended on a
list like this, where climate affects nearly everything we talk about.
In most mail programs, you can create a "signature file" that is
automatically appended to every message you send. If this is not possible
or practical, then you should still make a habit of typing your ID info at
the end of each message.
