Okay, Keith, here's how to make hollyhock dolls:
Snip an open bloom from the stalk, leaving as much of the stem as possible
attached. Upside down, this will be the bell of the skirt (very high empire
waist, I suppose). Then take either a forming seed pod or an unopened bud and
pop it onto the stem end for the head. Seed pods make bald dolls, but they're
easier to get on. The unopened bud can give the impression of hair or of a
pointy hat, but you have to either get its stem end into the bell part, or
vice versa. Most of mine were bald. You can make twig arms, too, but it's
not necessary.
