More than you might wish to know on Black Prince...
Simonet and Randolph BOTH did counts on Cordelia AND Black Prince.
No ambiguity -- results:Black Prince 26
Cordelia 25
This is nearly irrefutable evidence against synonymy. As to "Who done the
deed?':
Black Prince, seen in the garden, is one of my 'WOW' iris. Its length of
time in commerce and gardens and the fact that it has traded under at least
a dozen synonyms would indicate that others over the past 170 years have
also considered it to be a 'WOW' iris. Dominion and its descendents are, by
and large 'WOW' iris.
When you look at Black Prince, Dominion and the legion of Dominion
children; growing in a garden, a STRONG familial resemblance is
immediately noticed. I firmly believe that it would be VERY hard to defend
a paternity suit brought against Black Prince. Cordelia is not even in the
running, IMO.
