In 'Lilies of the World' it is suggested that soot be added when you are
making manure tea and again:-
Quoted "Soot (which has stood 2 or 3 months under cover) can be applied
at 4oz. per square yard. It should be mixed liberally with he spent
manure and leaf-mould that is used as a summer mulch; ......liquid
manure".
