Sulfur is one of the elements necessary for plant survival. However,
adding Sulfur will also make the soil more acidic, or less alkaline,
depending on the original pH. Most air pollutant sources of Sulfur came
from the burning of high-Sulfur content Coal, such as that found in eastern
Kentucky, which by the way, has highly acidic soils.
