HYB: Poisonous Irises

From: vince lewonski <vincelewonski@yahoo.com>

Regarding the stomach ailments suffered by hybridizers that were
licking pollen, etc. - is it possible that they did not have a
reaction to the oxalic acid in the pollen, but rather to something
that was sprayed on to kill borers/prevent leaf spot/discourage weed
growth??? Some of the chemicals we spray, especially those for borer,
are SYSTEMIC, so they would presumably be absorbed into the whole
plant, including the pollen.
   Just a thought.
