I reiterate, the material I mentioned was from GARDEN IRISES (1959), the AIS
book edited by Dr. Randolph which predated WORLD OF IRISES. It is in some
respects a more scientific volume. The listing of iris chromosome numbers
Mike has placed on the HIPS page is from this work. It is not a rare book.

AIS has published three major books, aside from the Check Lists of iris
names. These are Iris: An Ideal Hardy Perennial published by the editorial
staff of the Bulletin in 1947, Garden Irises, of 1959, and World of Irises,
the most recent standard work which dates from the seventies. All of these
are worth seeking out and are available at modest prices. There is said to be
another AIS book in the works.
