RE: TB: data request

From: Mike Lowe <mlowe@worldiris.com>

Interesting question on JANE PHILLIPS (Graves R. 46), H.C. AIS 1947,
H.M. AIS 1950, A.M. AIS 1952.

If you were serving on the Placement Committee of an AIS approved
Iris Show, and received an entry of the cultivar "JANE PHILLIPS
(Graves R. 46)" where should the entry clerk be directed to place it?

Would it go into the Horticultural Class, TBs...

or

would it be placed in the Seedling Class, TBs?

I quote from the 'HANDBOOK FOR JUDGES AND SHOW OFFICIALS' sixth edition:

"The schedule must provide for a horticultural division consisting of
at least twenty iris cultivars that have been properly registered and
introduced and which are to be exhibited as single cut specimen
stalks....

                                  SEEDLING DIVISION
Entries in the seedling division consist of any unintroduced iris of
of any type which cannot be entered in any other division of the
show. Seedlings must be entered under seedling number or registered
name and must be made in the name of the owner or originator of the
clone...."

Cheers,

Mike, who wears a policy hat and eventually will have to deal with
unresolved problems of this genre...hopefully, during the 21st
century, we WILL construct a 1949 Check List...
