Hi, Mike, Not all the blame should be at the doorstep of the printed R&Is.
I recall a show in another Region (unfortunately, in this case, I was not a
judge because I was aware of the error when I looked at the results - and it
was too late then to "educate" the judges! - at least for that show!) One
iris - which should have been the Queen - was not judged because it did not
conform to the R&I description - AND it didn't BECAUSE the hybridizer had
not corrected his error!!! I was very upset because the winning iris (from
another country) had NOT been accepted in "the" book as eligible for awards.
So I felt that was a double error on the part of a very prestigious panel of
judges -- which was only half their fault. (they should have known about the
imported one) Have fun "you'all" deciding on this issue - and it is
important that all "i"s and "t"s are eventually dotted to preserve the sanity
of judges and the respect of the public. 'Nuff said! Rosalie nr Baltimore
