Carolyn and I are indeed on the Internet and we are again reviewing daily 
postings on Iris Talk. Kathy Guest received notification of our meeting 
through Lois Rose, a member of the Fredericksburg Iris Society. Lois was 
gracious enough to do a little publicity for us as a favor to me.
I took over the presidency of CVIS at Thanksgiving with the fun task of 
transition and planning a January meeting during the Christmas season. 
Clarence was gracious enough to accept an invitation on very short notice to 
help me start the year on a positive note!! Everything was rushed including 
the newsletter but my main goal was to inform our immediate membership. The 
Lowes are on our mailing list and they received a meeting notice with the 
remainder of our active membership a week before the meeting.
CVIS is one of the smallest affiliates in Region 4 and past president Phyllis 
Soine has done a commendable job keeping the group together until someone 
with new ideas and enthusiasm could take over. Our goal is to double our 
membership, so we can commit to hosting a future Regional meeting. I didn't 
view Clarence's visit as an "event", but I was grateful for his encouragement 
and support of our attending members. The proof was the smiles on their faces 
as they left the meeting. I would rather focus on that result and impending 
spring bloom, and forget about bruised egos.
