Hello, George.
I'd guess the closest chapter of AIS for you--at least moving east of the
mountains-- would probably be the Chesapeake and Potomac Iris Society which
meets in the Washington DC Area. C&P is a very active group with a lot
planned for 2000. Clarence Mahan, AIS President, is a member of this local
group.
In the December 1999 newsletter for AIS Region 4, Ginny Spoon says there is
talk about starting a new chapter which will "encompass the Leesburg,
Winchester, West Virginia areas" but that that won't happen until after the
2003 AIS National Convention, which will be held in the Region.
The President of C&P is Ginny Spoon, whom you can contact at VSpoon@aol.com
or (540)888-4447. She is in Cross Junction. As I recall, membership in AIS
is a prerequisite for membership in C&P. Ginny will undoubtedly be able to
answer any questions you may have.
I appreciate that the DC area is a bit of a drive for you, but I think you'd
find these people to be worth considerable bother.
