Greetings, Cindy, and all.
Sorry to be late responding. My computer doesn't do very well at your page
and I had some problems both accessing it and navigating without hang-up. But
I've taken a couple of whacks at it and I have managed to see some of your
historics down to the yellow unknown, although the photos, which otherwise
see very nice, are coming in quite dark for me.
First, I do think the new background is an improvement over the denim one. As
a rule I very much dislike fussy backgrounds, especially for text.
About identifying your older unknowns. Consistent with my feelings about
muddying the waters or offering false assurances about identities on older
irises, I personally will offer an opinion of the identity of an unknown from
a photo only on those very rare occasions when the iris in question is unique
in color and form, known to me intimately, and instantly recognizable from a
very detailed photo. This is not the case with the unknowns you have posted,
at least as I am seeing them here, so I can't offer much help there, although
they are all very nice irises and I think it would be good to shoot a roll of
film from the guidelines on the HIPS page and send Phil some prints to look.
Otherwise, I like the way you are composing your photographs, and I think
your page is off to a real nice start.
I do need to call a small error to your attention. The award named for W. R.
Dykes is the Dykes MEDAL, not metal, so you may wish to pop up and fix that
here and there.
