I don't personally hold with the idea that bearded iris rhizomes benefit from
'curing out of the ground. I've certainly witnessed the the desperate growth
spurt of a dessicated rhizome when finally brought in contact with moist
soil, but I haven't seen any longterm benefit to the plant in bringing this
about artificially. The best results I have had have been with resetting
comparatively early, trimming the roots minimally, and replanting
immediately.
