RE: chrysographes germination

From: "J.F. Hensler" <hensler@povn.com>

I'm not sure this method is recommended, but it's the only way I've managed
to get chrysographes seedlings going in the garden.

I followed the instructions for soaking and stratifying Siberian seeds on
the CIA homesite.

One batch was kept evenly moist and died.

The other batch was not only hardened off, but gradually forced to put
better roots down by withholding water for a bit at a time. These things
were still glitchy, but 2 out of the 6 transplanted easily and were showing
good growth by the end of last summer.

Light and temperature was the same for both batches. (What I had available
in the cool greenhouse was what they got!)

If someone has an answer, I too
would love to hear it. I love species iris and I have
a very difficult time convincing them that they should
love me back. :-)
