Hi all,
We have given up on raised beds and dug up the last ones last fall. It is
just too labor intensive for arthritic, senior citizens. Most of our irises,
not growing in rock gardens, are in raised rows that can be rototilled
between. This is in both the public garden which is sand and our home garden
which is clay. For several years my husband has been saying we have to cut
back on the number of irises we are growing, but since his knee replacement
he seems to be serious. We have thousands of iris plants, many of which are
seedlings not good enough to introduce, but too good to throw away. Guess we
will just have to bite the bullet. It is so hard to give up your children.
