RE: OT-CHAT: what is a snow dump?

I thought that might catch someone's attention.  Yes, the city has an area
where the snow gets dumped.  When there is a heavy snow fall, snow plows
actually blow snow onto trucks where it is transported to the dump.  Just
shovelling the stuff out of the way doesn't work with the volumes that we
normally get.  The snow banks get up to six feet high very quickly.  When
that happens, there is another piece of equipment that cuts the bank down in
size and throws it onto a truck to be transported to the dump.

By end of February, the snow dump is a mountain of snow.  Every year, a few
offices actually have a pool guessing the date when the snow finally is
completely gone in the snow dump.
