In my experience with irises in this context, the hybridizer's name
usually stays with the unintroduced seedling. If I have given
directions for the seedling to be discarded, I am offended when I see
the seedling floating around or being used in crosses. When a
hybridizer says discard the seedlings, it is unethical for the
seedlings to be sold and circulated - pretty flowers or not.
My experience with dogs is limited to my few pets. But I have never
heard of a kennel name or breeder's name staying with the
unregistered dog. None of my unregistered dogs had anybody's
name...just the name I gave them.
