I believe the original question was about getting a pink with a pink
beard or non-tangerine factor beard. Of course, there are
exceptions, but the addition of a white to the mix will not achieve
the desired results. Otherwise, we would already have a flood of
this type on the market if it were that simple. HEAVEN HELPED,
Waltermire, has been tried, but hasn't yielded much. HH was a white
with a pinkish beard, is older now, and might give you lots of
children with older form, but you could cross the best of the sibs
and see what happens.
Thinking back, I remember one pink and white cross I made. I got a
variety of yellows (from pale to deep and some had rings like Debby
Rairdon, even white brushed yellow). I also got whites and pale
blues, but not one pink in the bunch.
The blue bearded pinks are as scare as hen's teeth. SHIRLEY M, MAGIC
WISH, and WISH come to mind, but I haven't gotten anything from
these either. The seedlings always have beards that are blue over
tangerine or very tangerine in the throat or not blue at all.
If I still had HH, I might be tempted to cross it with ARCTIC FOX .
I feel sure, though, that the pink beard would be lost.
Chuck could chart the possibilities.
I hope I haven't discouraged you. Of course, the more crosses you
make you increase the likelihood of getting what you want. You may
be surprised. I thought Monty Byers was crazy when he crossed Well
Endowed with Violet Miracle, but look at CANTINA, the fantastic child
that resulted.
