Hello Everyone!
Many of you will be aware that for the past three years Anner Whitehead has
served very ably as the Commercial Source Chairman for the Historical Iris
Preservation Society (HIPS). As was announced on this list in October,
2000, Anner has accepted appointment to the position of AIS Membership
Secretary. Consequently, she has resigned as HIPS Commercial Source
Chairman to devote her attention to her newly assume responsibilities with
AIS. I have accepted a nomination to fill the vacancy thus created, and am
working towards getting up to speed as the new HIPS Commercial Source
Chairman.
Among the duties of the HIPS Commercial Source Chairman is to respond to
inquiries about commercially available historic irises. HIPS defines iris
cultivars that are at least 30 years old as being "historic". Thus, if
anyone is seeking a source for any historic iris cultivar introduced in or
before 1971 (or for a species iris that has been in cultivation for more
than thirty years), they are invited to direct their inquiries to me, and I
will do my best to locate a source for the iris(es) they are seeking.
