SPEC: Moraea

All this talk of Dietes and no mention of Moraea. I grow Dietes in pots
and put them outside throughout the summer. They flower during the late
summer outside and the autumn inside.

More beautiful and, I believe hardier, are some of the species of
Moraea. The hardy ones originate high in the Drackensburg Mountains
and, according to Panayoti Kelaidis, are hardy in Denver and might be
hardy here in Ottawa. He did provide a list of species that would
probably be hardy because they grow at high altitude where the winter is
very cold. Naturally, I can not find that list at the moment! This
year we have about 4ft of snow and it would have been a good year to
test the hardiness but, unfortunately, I am only seeking seed for the
test at the moment.

Is anyone growing Moraea in a cold climate and, if so, which species?
