Sharon,
The relevant language in the '98 Handbook is repeated verbatim from the '85
edition and is contained under the subheading "Horticultural Division" and
is not repeated in the text for the other defined show Divisions (Youth,
Artistic, Educational, and Commercial).
I concur completely with your lucid explanation of the evolution and
interpretation of the particular iris show rule and recommend its
consideration by anyone who may be responsible for writing a show schedule
(and explaining it to exhibitors).
