Re: MTB:Consummation & others

Betty,

You are so right! In my sleep deprived way ( Our house alarm system
malfunctioned in the wee hours of this morning) I made an incorrect
statement. Yes, Consummation is an amoena. Mia culpa. After being so
abruptly awakened I could not get back to sleep so I fired up the
computer. The rest you know. I goofed!

What I was trying to say is that there are many colors and color
combination which have not shown up in the diploids. It's sad to think
that we are all trying restrict our iris to narrow man-made classes. AIS
talks of Expanding classes, Extending bloom seasons, Recognizing unique
iris, yet when someone does, they are criticized for it. .

I think most people will agree that PAYOFF is really a miniature of a
modern TB. Few if any diploids look like today's TB's. I'm not knocking
them, as I say we grow around 250 (table) diploid iris. I'm just trying
to point out that there is a place for all these iris.

There are too few tet MTB's on the market to give them a separate
class, however, more and more hybridizers are hybridizing for tet
medians, especially ones that rebloom. It's a wonderful, wide open
field with unending possibilities. We grow tet's which will fit in any
of the bearded classes. Our IB's are all fertile, as are all our other
tet's.
