I used ankle height nylon stockings as containers to soak most of my
crosses. Seeds go in the toe with a knot tied just above the seeds, one
pod per stocking. I hang the top of the stockings outside the toilet
tank, with the lid holding them in place. As Colleen says, be sure the
seeds are in the water and that the stockings don't tangle up the
flushing do hickey. I labeled the 'ankle' end of the stockings by
attaching a regular short piece of nylon window blind, labeled with
paint pen, with a paper clip. I use the same label that will follow the
seeds to their pots.
Makes an interesting decoration to the bathroom <g>
I had so many pods this year, that I used nearly all the ankle stockings
I had (saving a pair to wear!) and had to use some regular pantyhose.
Rather than fuss around with labeling each knot, I just knoted one cross
in the toe, then cut the stocking off at about ankle height, tied
another knot in the end, put in more seeds, knotted it again, and cut
off another 10 inch (?) section. Seems like I was able to get 3
sections out of each leg that way.

The ankle height ones are the same without the bottom knot.
