I'll play... only I think we should also say <why> it will be used a
lot.
We already know that a lot of people are using LOUISA'S SONG as a
parent, so that one doesn't really count. <g>
I'll guess DECADENCE will be used a lot, judging from KK's rave reviews
(not to mention Neil's efforts to transform it into his wished for brown
amoena). For its pattern, colors, ruffled & wide form, plus (I assume,
tho I don't remember hearing the details) bud count, substance, &
branching.
CELEBRATION SONG will probably be used a lot since it's the latest
Dyke's medal winner. Also used for color & pattern, fertility, and wide
adaptability (I know, it rots some places, but it does do well in a lot
of locations, & even the rotting Dykes Medal winners get used a lot -
look at sickly ol EDITH).
Another couple of Schreiner irises that I think will get used a lot are
WORLD PREMIER (assuming it's readily fertile), with all the good traits
of Schreiner irises, an award winning amoena, with wide adaptability (I
think that's what I heard when I asked about it earlier this year) and
YAQUINA BLUE, a consistantly tall growing Schreiner blue for a change,
with wonderful substance & width, etc. Maybe YB is too old already to
be included in your predictions, Robin? I notice it is already showing
up in a lot of pedigrees.
How about a soon to be heavily used rebloomer? Maybe INNOCENT STAR,
because even I can grow it (tho it doesn't bloom well) and Betty reports
getting lots of repeat bloom babies from it?
Kind of interesting to go thru some of the R&I entries for 2000, 2001,
2003 to see which introductions from the bigtime hybridizers are from
the same parent (s), and which cultivars produce seedlings that are
introduced, rather than more seedlings that have to be crossed to yield
an introduceable cultivar.
