Hi Char,
You addressed your comment to Neil but I will respond too.  I did not think
about the possible spread with the cutting tool.  I did cut everything that
was affected and I did not treat the cutting tool between each cutting.

The Iris did come back in fine health and maybe I was lucky.

Who knows!  Thanks for the insight and I will certainly follow your
suggestion if I find I must cut down the Iris again.

Neil, Before you cut, I would ask you to consider that unless you sterilize
your scissors between each and every cut, you may spread ANY diseases you
may have throughout your entire "treated" garden.  I would favor other
treatment including the dormant oil and fungicides or burning or total
removal of diseased plants along with better soil health before I would the
cutting and possible spread of diseased tissue over a large area. Thoughts?
