Re: RE: AIS: Poster sessions

Good ideas Linda. I have not yet formally asked each section if they would like to do a poster but certainly it would be another opportunity for them to promote themselves and their irises, They may have people who miss their meeting but who might join at the poster session.

The thing I hear the most about from national conventions (other than
the geek dinner) are garden tours and riding the buses & getting to meet
some of the hybridizers.

So another idea for a couple of groups of posters would be (1) gardens
and (2) hybridizers .

Gardens might be displays of prior conventions - collections of flower
photos, people, spectacular clumps, etc. If there was a report in the
AIS Bulletin or some of the regional newsletters (the Irisarian always
has a few), that could be the text (printed in BIG letters).

Or they might be photo tours of gardens that are in places the
convention hasn't been, or maybe median or Louisiana conventions, iris
that aren't normally at peak bloom during convention.

Hybridizer posters could really be anything from the latest
introductions (like in Bulletin ads), seedlings, experimental crosses,
or the earliest thru the latest in breeding lines working towards a
particular goal. Or just a series of photos of the artist at work....
