Re: HYB: seeds per pod (was seedling survival)


Some of both. I try to make enough crosses to get 50 or more seeds per
cross.  Until I did the number crunching on seedling survival to post
here, I was just going on gut feeling of how many seeds it takes for me
to get an idea of what traits the cross is likely to produce, how the
parents mix re: health & performance here.   Aiming for at least10
babies.

On these 2 % survival from seed to bloom crosses from pods with 25
seeds, looks like I am going to need a <lot> more pods to reach that goa
- about 20!

<Basically I wanted
                   to know if people are making crosses with high seed
counts.  Or lots of
                   single pod crosses.  Betty>
