Yes, I used the liquid Merit last year with excellent results. For the prior 3 years I spread the Merit granules and had very limited success against the borer. Last year, I not only sprayed every rhizome with the diluted liquid in April, I also scattered the granules. The results were dramatic.
I would say in 2004 when I used only the granules, I found about 150 borer in about 800 plants; In 2005 with the spray, I found about 6 in about 900 plants.
