I'm still out here, perking along, recovering from several miserable weeks
that started Thanksgiving. Now I'm on the mend again.
What a process! I've had four years of multiple surgeries, treatments,
reconstructions of my "innards," and the recovery time is incredibly long.
A nurse told my wife a couple days ago not to expect rapid changes. I've been
a "miracle" survivor of all this. A surgeon recently told me that very few
would have survived what I've undergone during the four-year period.
Re the computer. I made some changes that I prepared fairly well for, but
failed to back up, as Mike says, some significant files--such as my
"Favorites" and current Address book. Fortunately, I did have on a 100-mg Zip
disk a year-old csv file from my Address Book for Outlook Express, which was
still largely current. A few changes and I was back in touch with most
folks.
I've written very little all winter, about anything, including irises. There
will be an article in the BAIS about the red iris projects.
I am having to let go of growing irises except for a very few. My corpus no
longer is able to do the work involved, and I'm being realistic in letting go.
I didn't plant my few seeds this fall, and have arranged with a friend to take
on growing my remaining seedlings, those that have survived my disasterous
losses last summer. There may yet be a few good ones.
A couple seedlings, including Power Woman, have been sent on to Oregon to
Snowpeak, who will introduce if they pan out there. Keppel's new royal purple
makes mine look a bit problematic, I think. His is gorgeous! Lots of good
stuff in his new catalog....my mouth waters, but I'm not ordering and he knows
it. He delightfully enclosed a note, "Thou shalt not order." The catalog was
for pleasure, not profit. What a guy!
