CULT: Alfalfa pellets and borers

I have been meaning to ask this for awhile.  It seems a little odd, but the areas that I amended with alfalfa pellets have experienced far greater problems with borers.  Figures since of course the areas I done this in were where my best plants are planted.
   
  I just wondered if anyone else has ever noticed this.
