Anner -- We're talking about more than 570 clumps, and if I removed all the leaf spot, there'd be no foliage left. The beds were thoroughly groomed in the fall. So, I'm just going to have to hope that the Daconil spraying and grooming as winter turns to spring will do the job. The Daconil is pretty effective, but this is as bad a case as I've ever seen.
I think Merit will get rid of your aphids, pink or otherwise. I have not been troubled by aphids since I began using it. -- Griff

I gave serious thought this season to the purchase of one of those propane patio heaters that looks like a streetlight. Not for the irises, but for some stuff I have in pots that is tenderish. I had visions of not messing about with the mini-hoop coldframe and the silo, which is two hemispherical mini-hoop frames turned on their ends and tied together, netting me, when covered with 
plastic, a protected four foot tall area about large  enough for the
camellias, the daphne, the osmanthus, a rosemary and my parsley pot. As I say, I considered it---visions of all the creatures gathered around under it rubbing 
their paws on really bad nights, the squirrels, the  possum, the coon, any
rodents that my little cat Purrsica has not yet dispatched, like a Peaceable Kindom---but I finally decided the whole idea was pluperfect against nature and as such was bound to backfire. But, boy, was I tempted, himself urging me on in 
that way he has of abetting my  folly.
As for big fans, like those supremely elegant six foot diameter chrome ones, 
I want one of those, too. I figure not only can I cool the whole  garden
down, I can blow all the mosquitoes and the smells and flies from my neighbor's dog run all the way to kingdom come at the flip of a switch. As it is, I get a 
lot of mileage out of an oscillating  sprinkler.
Griff, I don't have any spot at all and I think one reason why is that I cut 
off every scrap of diseased foliage the minute it appears. How big is that
spread? It's supposed to be warm tomorrow, so why not get over there and whack it back. You know very well you are going to loose a lot of it when the cold weather gets here anyway. Get the worst of the spores off the property. My favorite tool is a pair of classic Fiskars sewing scissors, the really sharp 
ones with the orange handle. You can pick them up at Tarzhay for about ten
bucks. Fabulous garden implement. What I do have right now is aphids. The
loathesome pink ones.
