Trying to talk up a little excitement.
That's what I'm about!
I was only gone emotionally. Just trying to get everyone excited about the 2008 season.

Betty,
Back? I guess I missed that you were gone.... need to find smaller rock to
stick my head under...
I'm excited... all this rain after last year's drought... woo hoo.... more
bloom. Only 7 of the 150 seedlings lined out from 05 crosses have bloomed so
I'm looking forward to all the new faces... And that's not even counting the 06
crosses.
The beds are an absolute mess since they were left fallow last year. I'm
going to have to seperate Total Recall from Tea Leaves with a spade. There'll
be no hope of sorting out who is who... perhaps I'll hand out some grab bags to
the kids at the school.
The kids are still very enthusiastic about their little seedlings...all they
did was put them in dirt, most had already sprouted... but hey they're second
graders. I plan to steal the seedlings to line out about the middle of march.
With any luck I'll get enough bloom from the parents to be able to bring bloom
stalks to the classroom before school lets out.
I've already ordered the new flat from Schreiners... and I'm really looking
forward to bloom on what is supposed to be Tugs the Heartstrings (Riverview
flattie 06).
Among my seedlings I look forward to the blue bi-tone that didn't open all the
way on 07's maiden bloom--maybe it really is flat. The second bloom on the
silvery blue child of Thornbird might be exciting, maybe it'll have a wine
colored horn since there are wine veins on the hafts and later maybe a wine
colored flounce. o O (Woo hoo.... that's a truly inspiring visual!)
A purple seedling with McKellar's grove as a parent demands crossing with it's
yellow sibling. There are nearly twenty more siblings yet to bloom from that
cross so I'm expecting some exciting things in that end of the bed. With two
viable seedlings from two seperate crosses involving Rhythm I'm sure to be more
aggressive dabbing on both her and Little Freak.
Can you ever really nail down intended crosses? There's just so much
potential for intrigue in each and every seedling...even the plain yellow ones
with purple siblings....
hmm... I guess I'm more excited than I thought.

Well, it's Jan 20, and the temperature has climbed to 11 degrees here.? Lowest
I saw was 9 degrees.? It could be worse.? At least it is above zero rather than
below.? No snow cover.
Has everyone rallied from the season of 2007???Another spring rapidly
approaches!? Iris bloom will be here soon!? (Think positive.)
Everyone finalized your plans for crosses for the spring of 2008?? Nailed down
your goals?? Planned new purchases for the breeding program??
At least enjoying the webpages with 2008 introductions??
Did you include a few rebloom crosses?? Maybe use a few of the northern
rebloomers to expand the selection of rebloomers for the colder climates??
Anyone have any exciting seedlings they'd like to share with us??
Yes, I'm back.? Sorta.?
