Hey gang,
Did anyone else like the "Designing a Plant" article in this month's Bulletin? This is one of those articles that has something "different". This article does a very good job of describing what it is to hybridize, and of making the process seem less overwhelming. At the risk of insulting the author's/editors... the tone is almost like a book report... which is not a bad thing so much.
I'm particularly interested in this idea of "Tendencies". I think there might be something to that idea based on my observations of the style charcteristics of flats. That observation was the result of noticing a single characteristic on Frostico and asking the question..."What other irises look like that?"
Is that how you "real" hybridizers do it? Just follow the tendencies?
