What you need is the "Durable " Avery labels for laser. Product Avery 06575. These are designed for outdoor and hard usage areas. There also is a plastic sheet, signal sheet plastic that can then be cut to size, but I don't have product number on hand.

I tried this method for labeling my orchids (indoors) and found that the
paper eventually molded, making the label illegible after a couple of
years.  I guess they weren't quite water proof.  I suspect the same
thing might happen outdoors in a humid environment.
