What about just pressing the reply button and when the message that
you are answering comes up just erase what you don't want to reply
to and answer the rest.

Doesn't work with AOL. I replied to Brad's original query off-list, but here
is an extended response for all to see (I hope it is useful):
Here's what I said:
Its easy once you know how (if only AOL provided a manual).
Just select the bit of text you want to incorporate by holding down the left
mouse button and dragging over the text you want. Then click on "Reply".
Easy!
If you are not using AOL 3.0i then download it now! It is miles better and
easier to read than AOL 2.5i
Further to that, I would add that by doing this, it automatically adds in a
line saying "On [date] at [time] you write:" at the beginning. If find it
useful to manually edit this so that it shows the name of the person rather
than "you". It also addresses the e-mail to the sender of the original mail
automatically (for mails from this list, this would be iris-l@rt66.com) -
take care here, as it is easy to send the mail to somewhere that you do not
want it to go to!!
There has also been discussion about putting "signatures" on e-mail. As far
as I can see, AOL makes no provision for automatic signatures.
To get AOL3.0i (if you are an AOL 2.5i user) go to KEYWORD: UPGRADE.
Hope this is useful
