Can anyone verify more aril characteristics in the progeny of a
cross of bearded x aril if the seed showed a pronounced aril collar?
With Baby Blessed x Rare Spice, there was one 'arilly' collared
seed which I kept apart from the rest at planting time. As it turned out,
this was the only seed that germinated. It became ARIL REVERIE, which
has the aril look to the rhizome but not necessarily to the flower. It
did get the heavenly scent from Baby Blessed, which is satisfaction in
itself.
Which is better? bearded x aril aril x bearded
Why is germination so poor on these crosses?
I usually have to save the aril pollen for crossing later because
they usually bloom alone...maybe a SDB or two is around for a cross.
I know I jump around with my questions, but I have a lot to
learn!!
